Periodontics

According to a survey of 2006 investigating dental hygiene in Germany, a 75% over 35 years have shown to suffer from periodontitis. The reason for periodontitis is bacteria which locates between tooth and gums. If these bacterial stains are not removed by brushing oder use of dental floss, they form hard and uneven stains (calculus). The immunitary system fights these bacteria with an infection, provoking reddened, swollen and bloody gum tissue. If these symptoms are ignored the infection may spread and affect the rest of the denture.

Without an intact jaw and dentural structure, the tooth will loose its hold and may get lost.
